He's recommended me doing the Chicago Tests for NK cells, TH1 and TH2 and MTHFR, but in the meantime he wants me to start immendiately on Prednisolone (25 mg daily) and Clexane 40 mg daily and baby aspirin. I'm nervous about...

I've just got pregnant naturally at 40 (aged 41 at end of Dec) after more than four years of complicated thyroid Graves Disease problems, then RAI and then a period where I was mis-diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure (as my body reacted to the RAI and sent me into a fake menopause - no periods, flushes and night sweats and very high FSH/LH). However through the brilliant help of Dr. Trevor Wing of natural gynae in London, Chinese Herbs, thorough scanning and accupuncture, my periods returned and we got pregnant pretty quickly. This is my first pregnancy but because I have 2 auto-immune conditions (Graves and Vitiligo) I just sought the advise of Dr Gorgy at the London Fertility Academy as I know I am potentially high-risk for auto-immune complications in pregnancy and we really want to try to hang onto the one we've got. He's recommended me doing the Chicago Tests for NK cells, TH1 and TH2 and MTHFR, but in the meantime

Many congrats altho understand this will be a worrying time for you. I would go with the suggestion of the meds, at least that way you know you are doing all you can. That would be how I would feel about. GL and let us know how you get on.

5 m/cs, 4 yrs ttc #2

Slightly pos APS, low Free T4, borderline ANAs, CD19+/CD5+ cells 15%, Th1/Th2 ratio 61 (reduced to 33 after 4 doses pre-concep Humira), Neg LAD

Currently on : 

Menevit, calcium + vit D, 1/4 aspirin after ov, Royal Jelly, 5 mg steroids 

 

Protocol : 

Pre-concep - Humira 40mg x 4 before ttc and re-test levels then BA (might try it post ov tho), steroids 5 mg (might not do pre-concep as other treatment sufficient), calcium, LIT done 3 July.

 

At + test - stop BA (but might not do that!), intralipids, steroids 20 mg (weaning off at 12 wks), heparin 20 mg once per day (test APS at 12 wks), Ultrogestan pessaries 400mg till 12 wks

 

Kinesiology, HypnoFertility, gluten free, thinking about revisiting homeopathy

Hello! I have elevated NK cell activity levels and could not afford

IVIg. Through research on the Internet I came across Dr. Shehata in

London who uses Pred. to treat NK cells...25mg. starting at

ovulation and continued till about 12-13 weeks.

 After 6 chemical

pgs. it worked for us the first month!!! He warned me that it can

cause high BP and gest. diabetes issues if continued too long into

the 2nd trimester. I was afraid to stop it and continued till about

17 1/2 weeks...I knew I was in trouble...BP was sky high and I was

spilling glucose in my urine. I got weaned off by 17 1/2 weeks and

have been fine ever since...I'm 35 weeks now and BP is 120/72 with

no gest. diabetes either.

Other than that, I experienced no other side effects. Good luck and

 sometimes (but rarely) post on the conceiving abroad group. I've been prescribed prednisolone by my consultant at Care Nottingham. 

My dose is 20mg during the cycle from day 6 of stimms, moving to 25mg if I get a BFP. This will then be reviewed and discontinued at some point in the pregnancy (not sure when) and then stepped down by a certain amount of a period of a couple of weeks.

 I think the 25mg is not an unusual amount to be taking as an immune patient undergoing treatment. Perhaps if you need reassurance you should see a dr who is an advocate of immune therapy for fertility and then be prescribed. Taking advice from drs who are against this sphere of medicine can be very negative. My NHS dr told me yesterday that she won't prescribe me the pred, but that I can do it off my own back. I don't think she would have said that if it was going to do me harm. As you said, the main thing to do is to make sure you come off it slowly and also to carry a steroid card with you in case of emergency.

Hi...after 6 chemical pgs. in a row from August 2004 to September

2005 followed by complete inability to even conceive up till present

day I finally took Dr. Beer's advice and got tested for natural

killer cells. Finally, a positive test result after years of being

told nothing was wrong with me. Only problem is that we can't afford

IVIg. So I've done a ton of research and DH and took just finished

an intensive 8 week oral antiboitic treatment plan similar to what

Dr. Toth does. We finsihed in July and ttced right away. I also had

read that a Dr. Shehata in London was having good success using

Prednisolone to treat elevated NK cells. So starting with O, I began

taking 25 mg. of Pred. daily. My LP is usually only 11 days. Last

month it was 13 and I got all excited only to get a BFN. I can't

bear that again.

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant

and am

> taking 20 mg of prednisolone per day. I have had no immune

> complications so far (thankfully).

So, I take four 5 mg pills every morning (total 20 mg). Just to 

confirm, you think first drop to 15 mg for 5 days, then 10 mg for 5 

days, then 5 mg for 5 days, then nothing, right?
